Brian Argrett
Brian is chairman of Broadway Financial Corp. and has been the chief executive officer of its subsidiary City First Bank since 2011. He is also chairman of the board of directors of City First Enterprises, a CDFI loan fund. He has extensive experience in financial services and banking industries, public and private company boards, and the Washington, D.C., and Southern California banking markets.
Brian was previously a founder and managing partner of Fulcrum Capital Group, an investment manager, and Fulcrum Capital Partners LP, an institutionally backed private equity limited partnership. He also served as president, chief executive officer, and director of Fulcrum Venture Capital Corp., a federally licensed and regulated small business investment company. He has served as chair, been a member, or held observer rights on numerous Fulcrum portfolio company boards. Before joining the Fulcrum entities, he was an attorney with Pircher, Nichols & Meeks, a real estate law firm in Los Angeles.
He was a presidential appointee to the Community Development Advisory Board of the Treasury Department under the Obama administration and held leadership positions at the National Association of Investment Companies and the National Conference for Community and Justice. He is on boards at IntraFi, the California Bankers Association, and the Expanding Black Business Credit Initiative. He is also a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.
Brian was a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta from 2016 through 2021, during which time he served as vice chair, chair of the enterprise risk and operations committee, and a member of its finance and audit and compliance committees.
He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., the Federal City Council, and the Leadership Greater Washington Class of 2014. In 2014 he received the Washington Business Journal Minority Business Leader Award. He holds J.D. and MBA degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
